Ghana banned from Under-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup

CAF has banned the Black Maidens from the next two editions of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s African qualifiers and fined US$100,000 for age cheating.
Ghana has been banned from competing in the next two editions of the FIFA Under-17 Women’s African qualifiers and fined US$100,000, the Ghana FA said in a statement Monday (4 July).
The protest was against the Black Maidens’ Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu, accused of falsifying their birthdate information and are above seventeen years.
“The Ghana Football Association have received a disciplinary decision from CAF concerning a protest filed against two of our U17 players in a controversial World Cup Qualifiers the second leg played against Morocco in Rabat.
“The decision bans Ghana from two subsequent U17 World Cup qualifiers with a fine of US$100,000,” the FA published on its website.
“GFA sent a written defence to CAF which was not considered. The GFA will study the full decision and respond with a written appeal accordingly,” the FA said.
The Moroccans filed the protest after losing 2-0 in the first leg in Ghana in the qualifiers for the U-17 Women’s World Cup.
However, Ghana lost 4-2 on penalties to Morocco in the final qualifier.

Two Ghanaian footballers arrested in India over fake travel documents

Two Ghanaian footballers were arrested by Meghalaya Police in the northeastern part of India for not possessing valid travel documents on Saturday.
A police team intercepted a tourist vehicle bearing registration number ML 05 T 3049 in NH 6 along Ummulong and detected six African nationals.
Out of the six African national, there were two Ghanaians involved in the incident.
The six footballers were proceeding toward East Jaintia Hills district for participating in a football tournament in Mosiang Lamare village, the Superintendent of Police of West Jaintia Hills district, Bikram D Marak, said.
The group planned to play a semi-final football match as they were hired by some football clubs.
The Ghanaians among the six people arrested namely, Enock Kwabena (29) and Moses Zutah (24) possessed valid travel documents and have since been released from police custody.
Other players arrested are identified to come from Nigeria, Mozambique, Liberia and Guinea.
Footballghana.com understands they could produce a valid travel document, however, they are still in police custody.

Black Stars can win World Cup if only they use white jerseys – Ofori Amponsah

Highlife musician and songwriter Samuel Ofori Amponsah known by his stage name as Ofori Amponsah has prophesied that the senior National Team, the Black Stars can be victorious at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on the condition that they wear white jerseys at the tournament.
According to him, the prophecy can only be manifested if the team abides by his instruction of using white jerseys throughout the tournament.
“We should pray we wear the white jerseys when we are at the World Cup. If people are listening to me because I saw them in white and we were excelling. They have to wear white at the World Cup and we must also pray for them, he emphasized”. Ofori Amponsah told TV XYZ in an interview.
The Ghana Black Star this year will represent the country at the 2022 FIFA World Cup which would be hosted in Qatar after beating another West African country Nigeria.
The Black Stars are in Group H together with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. They are set to play their first group game on November 24, 2022, against Portugal
